Educational program “Grains Road” in ” SODELIŠKIŲ” manor homestead, Biržai district

Educational program “Grains Road”, which takes place in an authentic homestead of a full ensemble of the beginning of the 20th century, which consists of: a two-end residential house, threshing floor with horse equipment, operating forge, the barn furnished with collections of antiques and handicrafts. There is also the last windmill in Lithuania built in 1924 that grinds flour with stone mills.
Traditionally, bread dough is leavened from already ground flour, from which, after receiving a handful of dough, every participant of this tasting will form a loaf of bread with the help of a guide and the bread will be baked in an ancient oven. While the bread is being baked, the guide introduces you to the daily work of the ancestors, the homestead buildings and the collections of utensils. During the tasting You will visit the barn with pets, and across the road you will visit animals such as: fallow deers, mouflons, alpacas, red deers, donkeys, ponies, sheeps and goats.
At the end of the tour, we will share our bread and taste some venison dishes. For tasting, you can choose to taste homemade, locally produced beer “Kalvis” with a snack (drip, pickled cucumber, homemade bread and onion). There is also a cold snack tasting consisting of several types of venison sausages, homemade cheeses, homemade bread, homemade pastry, butter with herbs, vegetables and herbal tea. For a hot dish, the group decides which one to choose from 4 possible options.
